Comparing Mexican and American Public Opinion and Foreign Policy (May 24)

The Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas, the World Affairs Council of Greater Dallas, the Southern Methodist University, The University of Texas at Arlington, and The University of Texas at Dallas have put together a panel discussion called "Comparing Mexican and American Public Opinion and Foreign Policy" at 9am on Tuesday, May 24 in the Smith Auditorium in the Meadows Museum of Art on the SMU campus.

Participants will present the survey Mexico and the World. Global Visions 2004. Public Opinion and Mexican Foreign Policy, identifying and analyzing attitudes, values, and general orientations of Mexicans about foreign affairs from a comparative perspective. The survey was developed by CIDE, the Mexican Council of International Affairs, and with the coordination of the Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs (CCFR). Authors will give special emphasis on national identity, level of contact with the exterior, and interest and knowledge about world affairs. The program includes the participation of Ambassador Andres Rozental, Dr. Guadalupe Gonzalez of from the Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economica (CIDE), Manuel Garcia y Griego from UT Arlington, Alejandro Nieto from SMU, and Rodolfo Hernandez Guerrero from UT Dallas. CEOs Tell All: How They Retooled Their Businesses After Major Disruptive Events (May 25)

The MIT Enterprise Forum of Dallas/Fort Worth, Inc. will present CEOs Tell All: How They Retooled Their Businesses After Major Disruptive Events, at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) School of Management Building, Richardson, Texas, May 25, 2005. Registration and reception with light buffet begin at 5 p.m., and the program at 6:15 p.m. The price is a donation of $25 for general admittance with advance registration, or $35 at the door.

The program is being sponsored jointly by the Dallas clubs representing the Harvard Business School, Johnson School at Cornell University, MIT, MIT Enterprise Forum, and Wharton. Disruptions such as change in the competitive environment, change in customer composition, supply chain disruptions, human resource disruptions, and are just a few of the situations that have caused CEOs to rethink their business models and lead changes that will turn their companies around.

The three CEOs who will tell their stories are (alphabetically): Ken Rees, former CEO of InnoVentry Corporation and CashWorks (currently he is president and CEO of PayDay One); John Ryan, former CEO of Entrust (currently he is the chairman of the board of Zix Corporation); and Sunny C. Vanderbeck, founder and CEO of Data Return. The moderator will be Don Hicks, professor of political economy and public policy at UTD.

So You Want To Be An Entrepreneur? (June 2)

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce is hosting a presentation by Scott Walker, president and CEO of BillMatrix Corporation at 11:45am on June 2 at the Radisson Hotel Richardson, located at 1981 N. Central Expressway at Campbell Road. There is a $30 charge for members and a $45 charge for non-members.
