Intel Invests $300 Million In Vietnam
Representatives of Intel Corporation announced it will invest US$300 million to build a semiconductor assembly and test facility in Ho Chi Minh City. This represents the first such investment by the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and supports Intel’s strategy to invest to support overall demand. Construction of this facility will begin immediately.
The latest addition to the global network of assembly and test facilities will supplement Intel’s existing activities in Southeast Asia. As part of Intel’s digital ASEAN (d-ASEAN) program, the company continues to work on the development of a stronger digital workforce, integrating technology into education and government, as well as making technology more accessible for business and consumers.

Raytheon Awarded $35.9 Million Contract for Submarine Satellite Communications Solution
Raytheon Company has been awarded a US$35.9 million U.S. Navy contract to deliver 15 Submarine High Data Rate (Sub HDR) multi-band satellite communication systems (SATCOM).
Sub HDR gives submarines high data rate, multi-band SATCOM capability. Raytheon has delivered more than 71 Sub HDR systems to the Navy during the last six years under previous contracts totaling more than $160 million.
Sub HDR technology, which was developed by Raytheon in the 1990s, links submarines to the Global Broadcast service, the Milstar satellite constellation and the Defense Satellite Communication System.
The Sub HDR solution enables sailors to transmit and receive mission-critical information by raising a mast just above the sea's surface while the ship is submerged at periscope depth. The system transmits secure wideband multi-media, secure and non-secure Internet access, voice and data traffic, imagery and video teleconferencing.

U.S. Army Awards General Dynamics $32 Million for Combat Vehicle Services
The U.S. Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics , a US$32 million in incremental funding of a potential $42 million contract for contractor logistics support on the Stryker combat vehicle. Vehicle support, resets and upgrades are a continuing portion of General Dynamics’ combat systems-related business.
This award funds Stryker Brigade Combat Team contractor logistics support, including: ordering spare parts, managing a spare-parts warehouse, worldwide distribution of repair parts and completing maintenance services on the Stryker Brigade Combat Team fleets. Work will be performed by existing General Dynamics employees in Auburn and Fort Lewis, Wash.; Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa.: and Vilseck, Germany. Work is expected to be complete by February 28, 2007.

IBM Signs Major Strategic Outsourcing Deal With Zorlu Group
Leading Turkish industrial group, Zorlu, has signed a US$25 million, 7-year strategic outsourcing agreement with IBM. IBM will take over Zorlu's IT infrastructure, improving the efficiency of the Zorlu Group's IT operations and bringing expected cost savings of 30 per cent.
In terms of the contract, IBM will manage Zorlu's server infrastructure, networks and manufacturing software, migrating systems to IBM solutions. Zorlu Group will draw on IBM's research capabilities and benefit from IBM's expertise in micro-processors, storage and home technology software in product development.
Hamza Cihan Sari, Zorlu Holding CIO says Zorlu is one of the most innovative groups in terms of technology and efficiency.
As part of the contract, IBM will also provide Zorlu with SAP operations, end-user support, network management services, data center operations management and hosting services.

Boeing Director Shalikashvili Announces Retirement from Board
Gen. John M. Shalikashvili, a Boeing director since 2000, has informed the Boeing board of directors that he will not stand for re-election when his term expires later this year.
Shalikashvili is retired chairman of the U.S. Department of Defense Joint Chiefs of Staff and former commander-in-chief of all U.S. forces in Europe. He served on the board's audit and finance committees, and chaired its special programs committee.
