Navy Awards Lockheed Martin $150 Million Contract

A team led by Lockheed Martin was awarded a $150 million Seaport-e task order by the U.S. Navy to provide training support to Sailors across the full spectrum of surface ship combat systems. The Lockheed Martin team includes 12 companies, comprised of international and small business partners.

The task order scope involves developing and maintaining new training materials and systems, training course instruction, maintenance and logistics support for training equipment, as well as international program support.  Currently, program support is provided at the U.S. Navy’s Center for Surface Combat Systems/Aegis Training and Readiness Center headquarters in Dahlgren and 14 detachments located in the United States and Japan.

Intel Announces Management Changes

Representatives of Intel Corporation announced July 20 that the company is making a number of senior management changes focused on improving the company's structure and achieving faster and better decision making. The company also announced that two senior executives will be retiring.

The management changes include:

Intel's Sales and Marketing Group will be led by Executive Vice President Sean Maloney, who previously co-managed the company's Mobility Group. Maloney will also become Intel's chief sales and marketing officer. Donald MacDonald, who was previously vice president and general manager of the Digital Home Group, will become vice president of Marketing and Brands, reporting to Maloney.

Senior Vice President David Perlmutter will continue as general manager of the Mobility Group. Senior Vice President Anand Chandrasekher, formerly co-general manager of the Sales and Marketing Group, will manage a newly created business unit focused on low power Intel Architecture products and the ultra-mobile PC market. He will report to Perlmutter.

Eric Kim, senior vice president, who previously co-managed the Sales and Marketing Group, will become general manager of the Digital Home Group.

William Siu, a 26-year Intel veteran who served as vice president and general manager of the Channel Platforms Group, and Richard Wirt, who has 25 years of service and is vice president, senior fellow and co-general manager of the Software and Solutions Group, announced their retirements. Both of these executives will remain full time with Intel through the end of the year to best manage their organizations' transitions. With the impending retirement of Siu, the Channel Platforms Group will report to Maloney in the Sales and Marketing Group. A general manager for the Channel Platforms Group will be named at a later date.

Renee James, vice president and co-general manager of the Software and Solutions Group, will continue to manage the group following Wirt's retirement at the end of the year.

The management changes are effective immediately.

SAMSUNG Electronics America, Inc. Names Vice President Of Commercial Sales - Information Technology Division

On Monday, representatives of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., named industry veteran Chris Franey as vice president of commercial sales for the Information Technology Division. Franey brings more than 25 years of experience in technology sales, marketing and general management experience in domestic and international markets to his new role at ITD.

Franey was formerly president of ViewSonic Americas, and also served as president and managing director of Europe, senior vice president of Global Sales, sales vice president for the Americas, director of sales for North and South America and national sales manager for the company. While there, he was chief architect of the company's global sales strategies and channel-related tactics and played a key role in developing and maintaining the company's extensive global sales channel network.

Prior to ViewSonic, Franey worked at Kurta Corporation, a leading computer peripheral manufacturer specializing in the CAD, graphics and pen-based computer markets, where he established and managed the company's global channel sales network and staff in North America, Latin America and Australia. He also served as senior regional manager at Moore Corporation, handling sales/marketing, facilities management and P&L responsibility for the retail network.

Franey takes over the role of vice president of commercial sales from John Johasky, who has been acting in a dual role at Samsung as vice president of commercial sales and vice president of marketing for the division since October 2005. During this time, he used his channel relationships to build on the success of the division. With Franey's appointment, Johasky will be able to solely oversee the division's marketing efforts, allowing Samsung to further strengthen the partnership between sales and marketing.

YJ Park and John Johasky will continue to support and oversee the channel initiatives and programs during the transition process.

3M to Acquire Archon Technologies Inc.

Representatives of 3M announced July 20 that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Archon Technologies Inc., a Denver-Colo.-based provider of enterprise software solutions for motor vehicle agencies. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Archon's enterprise software systems manage and integrate motor vehicle agency operations including vehicle registration, titling, driver licensing, professional licensing, dealer credentialing and revenue management. Demand for comprehensive integrated software solutions is expected to increase as motor vehicle agencies upgrade aging systems to improve efficiency and to address new federal security requirements.

3M's innovative solutions for motor vehicle registration include vehicle safety, registration and identification systems. Combining innovative reflective materials expertise with emerging digital and data management technologies, 3M offers a suite of systems and services to meet vehicle registration needs. They include production and distribution of license plates and renewal stickers, electronic vehicle registration, and motor vehicle database management.

Archon employs approximately 70 people and will remain headquartered in Denver, with operations in Tucson. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2006 subject to customary closing conditions.

Boeing to Consolidate Southern California Facilities

Representatives of Boeing have announced plans to consolidate company facilities in Southern California over the next four years. The Boeing facility in Anaheim, with about 3,700 employees, will relocate to the Huntington Beach facility.

Nearly all of the moves will occur within a 25-mile radius. Design and construction in Huntington Beach will start immediately, with minor employee moves. Significant employee relocations are anticipated to start early in 2007 and will continue through 2010.

The company will work closely with the City of Anaheim to redevelop the property in a manner that maximizes its economic benefit, both for Boeing and the community. Boeing Realty Corporation will manage the disposition of the Anaheim site.
