Raytheon and Systems of Systems
Engineering

John (Jack) Costello, vice president of Business Development and Strategic Planning for Network Centric Systems, will discuss Raytheon Company’s work in the development of Systems of Systems Engineering. System of Systems is a relatively new term that is being applied primarily to government projects for addressing large scale inter-disciplinary problems with multiple, heterogeneous, distributed systems that are embedded in networks at multiple levels.

This event is Thursday, March 16 at 11 a.m. in the TI Auditorium (ECSS2.102) located in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas campus. The talk will be preceded by a reception beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the same location. This event is free and open to the public.

Systems of Systems Engineering Applications

System of Systems, while still predominantly applied to the defense sector, is beginning to be applied to other challenges; some specific applications that are being explored are in the Transportation System and Space Exploration. Other applications where System of Systems approach can be applied in are Healthcare, Internet Design, Software integration and many other national and global challenges.
