Conflict of Interest Training

The UT Dallas Research Investigator Financial Disclosure Policy requires completion of conflict of interest training by all individuals responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of research at least every four years. The required training is offered online through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program. The training must be completed prior to completion of the Research Investigator Financial Disclosure.

NOTE: If you have previously completed human subjects research training with CITI you will not be able to create a new CITI account. Follow the instructions below for completing conflict of interest training with an existing CITI account.

Instructions for Creating a New CITI Account

Step 1: Visit the CITI home page. Select "Register Here" to create your own username and password.

Step 2: Select "University of Texas at Dallas" under "Participating Institutions." Complete the registration process.

NOTE: Once you log in to CITI, regardless of whether or not you completed any modules, you will no longer be considered a new visitor. At subsequent visits to CITI, you must log in as a returning visitor.

Step 3: On the CITI Main Menu, visit "Add a course or update your learner groups for University of Texas at Dallas"

Step 4: On the "Select Curriculum - University of Texas at Dallas" webpage, choose "Financial Conflict of Interest"

Select "Next"

Step 5: On the "Select Curriculum - University of Texas at Dallas" webpage, select "YES" to the question "Would you like to take the Conflict of Interest mini-course"

Select "Next"

Step 6: You will be directed to the CITI Main Menu. Under "My Courses" select ENTER to be directed to the Conflict of Interest Gradebook listing the three (3) required modules you need to complete. They are:

  1. Financial Conflicts of Interest: Overview, Investigator Responsibilities, and COI Rules
  2. Institutional Responsibilities as They Affect Investigators
  3. Conflicts of Commitment, Conscience, and Institutional Conflicts of Interest

Instructions for Completing Conflict of Interest Training using an Existing CITI Account

Step 1: Visit the CITI home page. Login under your existing username and password.

Step 2: On the CITI Main Menu, visit "Add a course or update your learner groups for University of Texas at Dallas"

Step 3: On the "Select Curriculum - University of Texas at Dallas" webpage, select "Financial Conflict of Interest"

Select "Next"

Step 4: On the "Select Curriculum - University of Texas at Dallas" webpage, select "YES" to the question "Would you like to take the Conflict of Interest mini-course"

Select "Next"

Step 5: You will be directed to the CITI Main Menu. Under "My Courses" select ENTER to be directed to the Conflict of Interest Gradebook listing the three (3) required modules you need to complete. They are:
