Founded at UTD in 1975 by Professor Carl B. Collins, 36 Graduate Students earned their PhD degrees doing their dissertation research in the Center for Quantum Electronics under the supervision of the Center faculty.  Over 200 scholarly articles were published in peer-reviewed professional journals. Our new activities are adapted to this challenge.

Professor Collins (Dr. h.c. - 1992) and Professor Feenstra of Belgium (Dr. h. c. - 1992) leading a parade of University d'Orleans Doctor honoris causa (Dr. h.c.) recipients and other dignitaries through the downtown of the city in celebration of the 700th year anniversary of the founding of the University.

Essential to a sustainable economy is recycling. The scale of recycling is lessened by using nanophase diamond coatings to increase lifetimes of mechanical parts used in everyday items.

Hyogo_Synchrotron
Work at international synchrotron light sources helps pinpoint energy pathways that deliver the high energy densities needed in next-generation lasers and lithography sources for nanotech constructions. Two of our PhD's are seen working at 3:00 AM during their student days.
