Lab Alumni


Dewayne Bettag
Graduate student in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders

Spring 2008. Dewayne graduated from UTD Magna Cum Laude with the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in Psychology. He has worked with typical and special needs children for over seven years in private and public settings in the U.S., Switzerland, and France. He is currently finishing his MS degree in early childhood development.


Megan Bills, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Spring 2007 - Fall 2007. Megan graduated in December and is attending a Masters program in counseling psychology. Her senior thesis looked at question-asking in preschoolers.


Annette Davila, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Fall 2005 - Spring 2007. Annette, from Corpus Cristi, was one of the founding members of the Think Lab and did her senior thesis with the lab: "Preschoolers Use Different Levels of Punishment to Rate the Severity of Lies and True Statements." She is now in an MBA program.


Stephanie Drury, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Spring 2006. Graduated in Fall 2006 and is currently pursuing a Master's degree (2007).


Urvashi Gandhi, M.A.
Graduate student in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders

Fall 2006 - Fall 2007. Urvashi recently moved to Texas from Mumbai, India where she got her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mumbai. Urvashi aspires to be a clinical psychologist working towards the rehabilitation of disabled children.




Derek Junek, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Fall 2007 - Spring 2008.  Derek graduated with his degree in psychology, and is currently exploring several options for graduate school, including clinical psychology and law. 




Amber Karnuth
Undergraduate Student

Summer 2008. Amber is a Psychology Major.  Her experience working with children include coaching gymnastics and competitive cheerleading, directing a Preschool gymnastics program, working in preschools as a teacher’s aide, volunteering at CITY house, and teaching youth cheerleading camps.  She plans to apply to graduate school, where she hopes to study counseling or clinical psychology.




Tonya McIntosh, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Summer 2007. Tonya graduated with a major in Child Learning and Development and Psychology and Speech Language Pathology. She is now attending UTD in the Doctoral program for Audiology.



Alexis McKechnie, B.A., M.A.
Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders

Fall 2005 - December 2006. Alexis moved to Texas from Vancouver, Canada where she got her B.A. in Psychology from Simon Fraser University.  Alexis received her Master's Degree in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders and is now in Toronto pursuing speech pathology training.



Caroline Mejias
Undergraduate Student

Summer 2007 - Summer 2008 . Caroline begin her undergraduate education at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley College in Fine Arts and graduated in 2008 with both school and university honors. She wrote a senior thesis examining the relationship between self-theories of intelligence, confidence, and trait hope and their effects on resiliency.




Spencer Nix
Graduate Student in Psychological Sciences

Fall 2008. Spencer earned his bachelor's of science degree from Texas A&M University and is currently a master's student in Psychological Science. With four little brothers of his own, he is excited for the opportunity to work with youngsters. Upon graduation he has plans to continue his education as a doctoral candidate.

 




Erin Poe, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Spring 2006 - Fall 2006. Erin graduated in 2006 and will be applying to graduate school in psychology in the future.


Traci Sandoval, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Spring 2007 - Fall 2007. Traci graduated with her major in Psychology after completing her senior thesis in the Fall of 2007, looking at the relationship between mindfulness and appreciation of beauty. Traci is currently a lab manager in a research lab (2008).

 


Belinda Smith, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Summer 2007 - Spring 2008. Belinda graduated with her major in Psychology and is attending graduate school in Organizational Psychology.



Michelle Speed, B.A.
Undergraduate student

Fall 2006 - Spring 2007. Michelle moved to Oregon to pursue further education in Forensic Psychology.




Steven Beau Trimble
Undergraduate student

Spring 2008. Steven is a Business and Psychology double major. His experiences working with children include the Big Brother program and other after-school study/mentor programs. Steven will be applying to graduate school in Social Psychology, focusing studies on social influence, interpersonal relations, and group behavior.
