Residential Life Annual Programs
The Office of Residential Life offers a variety of activities for residents throughout the year. A sampling of some of our annual events are listed here.
Splatterdance is held each spring in partnership with SUAAB. This event gives residents a chance to get a little messy with friends and neighbors. Music sets the mood, and students sport large drums and mallets to splatter themselves and each other with colorful (and washable) paint! Residential Life even provides Splatterdance shirts!
Trunk or Treat is held annualy during the week of Halloween. Residential Life and UT Dallas student organizations provide a fun and safe environment for faculty, staff and the Richardson community to bring their children for trick or treat fun. Student volunteers dress up and lead families through a maze of car trunks and help them collect goodies along the way.
Thanksgiving Dinner partners the Residential Housing Association (RHA) with International Student Services to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to students who stay on campus for the holiday. Participants enjoy a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, along with information about Thanksgiving Day's origins.
Crawfish Boil occurs near the end of the spring semester and provides students with a true Cajun experience. Hundreds of pounds of crawfish and a zydeco band turn the University Village apartment pool area into a Louisiana outdoor restaurant as residents gather to hang out, celebrate the end of another year, pose for photos with a life-sized crawfish mascot, and enjoy some delicious crawfish.
