College Journey Camp 4 Girls

Dates: Middle School Camp (girls entering grades 7-8)- June 23-28, 2013
High School Camp (girls entering grades 9-12)- July 21-26, 2013

Description: The goal of College Journey is to give Middle and High School girls an opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and math careers and to inspire them to embark on paths that will be instrumental in helping them achieve their own educational and career goals, while building a brighter tomorrow for us all.

Through College Journey's 5-day residential program located the University of Texas at Dallas, girls will be mentored by successful STEM professionals currently working in STEM careers, be exposed to a range of STEM related coursework, and receive training on professional skills such as resume writing.

While at camp, girls will choose from and experience hands-on, interactive curriculum based activities facilitated by STEM role models in areas such as electrical engineering, chemical engineering, computer science, and much more. The College Journey program is designed to not only to give girls the opportunity to visualize themselves pursuing and achieving goals in higher education and/or successful STEM careers, but it instills in them the confidence and gives them the tools to make their future dreams a reality.

Cost: $350/girl. All expenses are included in the cost (including 2 t-shirts, College Journey patch, meals, evening activities and housing). Scholarships are available (application required).

Details: All girls will live in the dorms for the week. Adult chaperones are provided by Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. A signed doctor's physical that is within 12 months of the event is required in advance.
