2009 Trip Descriptions

Organization: Haven of Hope

Location: San Antonio, TX

Focus: Homeless Outreach

Description of Trip: The group will be working with Haven of Hope and outreach to the homeless of San Antonio. Volunteers will assist the agency in facilitating daily programs such as meal preparation, clothes closet and job preparation.

Organization: Nehemiah’s Vision

Location: Vidor, Texas

Focus: Hurricane Recovery and Rebuilding

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will work with Nehemiah’s Vision to rebuild and repair homes affected by Hurricane Rita, with special emphasis on disadvantaged populations.

Organization: Habitat for Humanity and Baptist Crossroads Foundation

Focus: Hurricane Recovery and Rebuilding

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will work with Habitat for Humanity in rebuilding homes affected by Hurricane Katrina in the Upper Ninth Ward of New Orleans.

Organization: Seniors' Net

Location: Richardson, TX

Focus: Home, yard and wheelchair ramp repairs for the elderly and others needing assistance.

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will work with the Network of Community Ministries in providing assistance to the elderly in our community. Projects will include painting , home repairs, yard and garden maintenance, and the construction of wheelchair ramps.

Organization: Dear Neighbor Ministries and Outreach

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Focus: Social Services to Disadvantaged Populations

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will aid in serving the community needs: such as building wheelchair ramps, delivering Meals on Wheels, assisting in social services outreach, and working on minor repairs and construction.

Organization: Oklahoma State Parks

Location: Sequoia Bay State Park

Focus: Environment Restoration and Development of Nature Trails

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will work alongside rangers and environmentalist to clean up the park environment, and assist in trail development.

Organization: Camp Summit

Location: Denton, TX

Focus: At-risk youth camp

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will assist camp counselors in daily camp activities including sports, and arts and crafts.

Organization: CornerstoneDallas

Location: Dallas Area

Focus: Socio-economic revitalization

Description of Trip: Volunteer participants will assist CornerstoneDallas in programs including homeless outreach, seniors assistance, computer literacy, job training, food pantry and neighborhood home repairs.
