Frequently Asked Questions
If I call the Police, what will happen?
UT Dallas Police will investigate reported campus assaults. Local law enforcement will handle off-campus assaults. You may choose to use a pseudonym when reporting a sexual assault, so that your real name will not appear in public files. Other personal information will be kept confidential.
Students may also report anonymously, using the Silent Witness form.
What if I do not want to file a police report?
I can discuss the incident confidentially with the Student Counseling Center (972-883-2575), the Women’s Center (972-883-6555) or the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (972-641-7273).
How does UniTeD work?
The UniTeD project committee is a cooperative effort to assist a victim of sexual assault or a violent crime. Once a liaison is contacted, it will be determined how best to address the victim in their recovery. The victim of a sexual assault who chooses not to make a police report will be respected. Confidentiality rights are strictly followed.
What about stalking?
If you feel that you are being stalked, contact the UTD Police Department (972-883-2331) so you can document each incident. Explain exactly what happened and what threats were made against you.
