UniTeD Against Sexual Assault Project

Sexual Assault Crisis Response Team (S.A.R.T.)

The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) consists of departments who serve as responsive resources for faculty and staff on campus, and as supportive liaisons and advocates for students as they seek campus and community services and/or legal intervention after an assault.  The Sexual Assault Response Team (S.A.R.T.) provides assistance to victims of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence and stalking.  Assistance may include counseling, advocacy, medical care, and resource referrals.  S.A.R.T. members will explain what options and resources are available, and will assist you through whatever steps you decide to take.  When you tell a S.A.R.T. member about the incident, you do not have to use your name, or the alleged perpetrators’. We encourage you to formally report, using names, so the incident can be investigated and to prevent further crimes.  But you don’t have to. You may use the anonymous reporting form below, if you prefer.  We would rather have you informally report the incident, without names, than not at all.

Team Responsibilities/Expectations

Upon initial contact with a victim, SART members will:

  • Provide a safe place to be heard, where an individual will not be judged
  • Offer information about resources that the victim might use to address personal, medical, psychological, and safety concerns related to the incident.
  • Provide guidance on procedures to be followed and resources to be contacted.
  • Offer to make initial contacts with resource providers and to introduce victims to appropriate contact people, both on and off campus, if the victim prefers.
  • Serve as a liaison with other members of S.A.R.T who may share more extensive knowledge of particular resources for the victim.
  • Work to ensure a coordinated, timely and appropriate support system for the victim.

When You Call…

When you call a member of the Sexual Assault Response Team, tell the advocate why you called.  If you have recently been sexually assaulted, the first concern will be your safety.  Let us know what you need - do you want to talk? Do you need information? Do you want to report the assault?  If you don't know what you need, we will help you figure that out.  If you wish, we can meet you on campus to speak to you personally.

You may also call a S.A.R.T. member if you wish to discuss an assault that occurred some time ago, or if you want to help someone you know who has been assaulted or harassed. The S.A.R.T. member will always leave decisions about what to do in your hands, but will encourage you to report the assault but will NEVER insist that you do so.  Services are available to men as well as women.

Silent Witness Reporting Form

If you would like to report that a sexual assault occurred, but would like to do so anonymously, you can submit a Silent Witness Form, and document what happened.   Silent Witness is provided as a service to you. We understand there are times when citizens may wish to provide information to the Police about criminal activity and remain anonymous. Providing for a safe community requires a partnership and a commitment from both Law Enforcement and the communities which they serve. We ask you to help us to serve and protect your community by reporting criminal activity.

Submit a Silent Witness Reporting Form.
