CAST

The Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) hosts continuing education to thousands of science teachers from across the state during the annual Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST). With over 700 TEKS-aligned workshops tailored to fit subject and grade level, teachers are excited to attend, share ideas and exchange teaching methods to better prepare their students.

The mission of CAST is to provide teachers with the professional development they need to bridge the gap between textbooks and the new accountability tests. With 400 plus exhibit booths, CAST is one of the fastest growing tradeshows in Texas.

SME participates heavily with CAST and the local Metroplex Mini-CAST.  Each year we have a vendor booth where alumni stop by and catch up with old friends and faculty. The SME faculty present multiple sessions each year. In addition, members of the TRC are encouraged to present and attend and may receive funding for doing so.

Here are the presentations by UTD SME faculty and UTD TRC members in 2016 as an example.
