CARE Awards Recognize Outstanding Staff

CARE Recipients

The University of Texas at Dallas not only carries a reputation of academic excellence, it is home to a community of dedicated staff.

The Celebrate Achievement Reward Excellence (CARE) was established by the UT Dallas Staff Council to recognize and honor staff members who have “demonstrated superior performance, offered outstanding customer service, and performed acts which have enhanced the image of the University.” Recipients are nominated by faculty, students and even customers at the University, making this recognition a distinct honor.

The following Spring 2015 recipients were recognized on May 4, 2015, as exemplifying outstanding service to their offices.

  • Joe Jennings — Facilities Management
  • Roxanne Minnish — Office of Advancement
  • Narcely Ruiz — Galerstein Women’s Center
  • Molly Seeligson — McDermott Scholars Program
  • Brenda Walston — William B. Hanson Center for Space Sciences
  • Julie Welch — Physics

Our six honorees were asked to share their thoughts on being recognized.

Joe has been with UTD for 29 years. When he learned that he was receiving this award, his comment was that this was “A nice surprise out of the blue.” Joe is a licensed Journeyman Plumber for Texas. Joe and a crew of six “handle all the University’s plumbing repairs.” Wow, what a job! Please remember to tell Joe how much we appreciate him when you see him.

“I am pleased, honored and humbled to receive this award and to join past recipients, whom I have admired and respected.  Not only do I feel privileged to receive the CARE Award, but also to work in a place that has a vision to be the best it can be, and a place where I have been given the chance to grow as a person. I have the opportunity to use the degree that I earned here at UT Dallas not only in my day-to-day job but also in the classroom, teaching top students in the ATEC program. And thanks to Dr. Daniel for his leadership and dedication these past years, guiding us in growth and quality.  It’s great to be on this team we call UT Dallas.”
