Taking Courses Off Campus That Fulfill UT Dallas Graduation Requirements Your Final SemesterTo ensure your fall 2008 graduation from UT Dallas, you must hand deliver all transcripts in a sealed envelope to the Office of the Registrar by 12:00 p.m. on December 18, 2008- no exceptions! If the UT Dallas Office of the Registrar does not receive your transcripts from the off-campus institution by the deadline, you will not be allowed to graduate this semester, and you will be required to re-apply for graduation next semester. If you will not be enrolled in any courses at UT Dallas next semester, you will also need to complete a Graduation In Absentia form and a $100 In Absentia Fee will be assessed. Verify That the Course or Courses Will TransferBefore registering for the course or courses at the other institution, verify that it will transfer to UT Dallas and fulfill the desired requirement. The UT Dallas Course Applicability System will allow you to review the UT Dallas transfer credit tables to see exactly how the course or courses will be accepted at UT Dallas. You must see an advisor before taking any courses off campus and you must submit a completed Off-Campus Transfer Credit Preapproval form to the Office of the Registrar before taking courses off-campus. CAS is only a tool to review transferability of courses and view degree plans, and only your advisor can guarantee that the course will meet degree requirements. Notify Your Professor of the DeadlineEarly on in semester, you should visit with the professor of the course(s) you are taking off-campus concerning this deadline. Waiting until the day of the final exam to tell your professor about the deadline will cause much hassle for both you and the professor and may ultimately keep you from graduating from UT Dallas. Although we understand that all campuses finish their courses at different times, your outstanding coursework must be in to UT Dallas by this deadline! What To Do If Official Transcripts Are Not Available By the DeadlineYou may request a letter from the Registrar of the off-campus institution if official transcripts are not available by the deadline. The letter must be hand delivered to the UT Dallas Office of the Registrar in a sealed envelope addressed to "The Graduation Team" by the December 18th deadline. It must be on institution letterhead and contain your full name, your UTDID number, the name of the course, and your final grade in that course. Estimates or predictions of grades are not acceptable. Letters from the professor will not be accepted. The letter must come from the off-campus Registrar's Office with the Registrar's signature. Please note: a hold will be placed on your UT Dallas records until an official transcript is received by the UT Dallas Graduation Office. |
