To meet a priority deadline, you must:

  • Have been admitted to or be currently enrolled in a degree seeking program at the University.
  • Supply additional documentation required, if any, for the verification of your application. You should log in through Orion Self-Service to check for any outstanding financial aid documents. If you are a new UTD student you will be sent a letter notifying you of any missing financial aid documents – all reminders after this letter will be sent to your UTD email address.

**You should submit your FAFSA at least 2-weeks before the applicable priority deadlines to allow processing time of missing document notices. You should also check your “To Do List” through Orion Self-Service for any outstanding documents.**

Students who do not meet the priority deadlines indicated above will only be considered for the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Direct Stafford Loan and for dependent students, the Federal Direct PLUS Loan.

Students who received TEXAS GRANT funds in prior years must file their FAFSA no later than November 15 for renewal of their TEXAS GRANT award. There will be no exceptions to this deadline.

You may still complete a FAFSA if you do not meet the priority deadline. However, FAFSA applications must be submitted at least three weeks before the end of the term in which you are enrolled to allow time for processing.

Please note: if you are attending UTD for a single semester and will transfer the credit hours to your home school, you will need to contact your home school for financial aid assistance. UTD does not provide financial aid for transient students.
