Terry Foundation Transfer Scholarship ClosedTransferAllAcadYear 13-14April 1, 2013 The Terry Foundation based in Houston, Texas is the largest provider of private scholarships in the state of Texas and was established by philanthropists Howard & Nancy Terry to help students attain their higher education goals. Beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year the Terry Foundation will expand its program at UT Dallas to include Transfer/Non-Traditional students. In the past, Terry Scholarships have been awarded exclusively to graduating high school seniors who enter UT Dallas the fall following their graduation. The Terry Transfer Scholarship stipend is $12,000 per year and renewable for up to three years of undergraduate study subject to satisfactory compliance with the Foundations academic and other requirements. The selection criteria include academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and family income. A student does not have to qualify for need-based aid in order to receive the scholarship.

This year student applications are due in Room 4.616 in the Dean's Office no later than 5:00 PM, February 17th, 2012. Late applications will not be accepted. The Foundation's mission is twofold. First, they recognize and honor the historic contributions that business men and women have made to the state of Texas by holding an Annual Awards Dinner in October each year. The TBHoF then chooses a set of students to compete in the next round of the scholarship process and contacts them individually to schedule interviews. Interviews will be held at UT Dallas on April 6, 2012. We will arrange a location on campus to host a Texas Business Hall of Fame Director to conduct interviews of the selected applicants. The scheduled time of each 30 minute interview will be communicated at a later date, and students in this round may be asked to submit additional materials. The TBHoF's final selection of the winners is slated for May. UT Dallas' participation in the final round of the selection process does not guarantee that one of our nominees will be awarded a scholarship. Bryce Jordan, flutist and musicologist, was the first President of UT Dallas. It has since been extended, with Dr. Jordan's approval, to provide financial support for undergraduate students in any of the creative and performing arts. The School of Arts and Humanities awards these scholarships in the Art and Performance area, which includes music, theatre, dance, creative writing and the visual arts. Scholarships are awarded from $500 to $1,000 per long semester to students who are or will be full-time students. Preference is given to students who major in degree programs within the School of Arts and Humanities, but may also be awarded to students who minor in the arts. Scholarships are awarded over the two long semesters (Fall and Spring), half payable in each semester. More Information Contact Website Robert Plant Armstrong Scholarship ClosedGraduateAHAcadYear 12 - 13 The privately endowed Armstrong Fund in the School of Arts and Humanities at UT Dallas permits the graduate program to award a few modest fellowships each academic year. In contrast to Teaching Assistantships, which involve part-time work for the school and are based solely on students' academic record, these awards are based on financial need as well as academic merit. Thus, applicants must provide the fellowship committee information on their incomes as well as estimated expenses. While the awards are direct payments to recipients, the school requires Armstrong fellows to study full time and expects that they use the grants toward university tuition. Indeed, most of the grants would qualify recipients for in-state tuition, should they not otherwise qualify for it. Although a student may hold a teaching assistantship and Armstrong grant simultaneously, students holding a Graduate Student Scholarship are not eligible for the Armstrong grant. Parson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in Bernard's name by his family shortly after his death to memorialize Bernard in an honorable and respectful manner. We want to ensure Bernard's name lives on and everyone remembers the supreme service he gave to The University of Texas at Dallas. The Scholarship will be awarded once a year in the amount of $500. Bernard served with The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department from February 1, 2001 to May 25, 2003.
