Before Traveling to the U.S.
- Apply for admission to UT Dallas: If you have inquiries related to admission, application deadlines, TOEFL requirements, application fees, etc. please visit the Office of Enrollment Services webpage.
- Obtain a passport from your home country, if you do not already possess one. Passports are issued by your country’s national government and usually require an application, fee, pictures and proof of citizenship. For more information, most governments have passport information available online or contact your local government office.
- Access your UT Dallas email address: You can log in to your UT Dallas email account with your Net ID and password at the Zmail portal at https://zmail.utdallas.edu/. Please contact the UT Dallas help Desk at assist@utdallas.edu for assistance in setting up or accessing your UT Dallas email account.
The International Student Services Office will send important information regarding the status of your I-20 or DS-2019 to your UT Dallas email address.

- Apply for your F-1 or J-1 visa
- Register for Orientation. F-1 and J-1 students only: Please go to the Orientation page for Orientation dates and to register. You will also find more information about what Orientation offers you as an International Student.
- Apply for Housing: If you would like to live on Campus, off campus or need temporary housing please visit the Housing webpage.
- Complete your Medical Screening: All International Students please download the TB Test Form and submit it to the Student Health Center. If you have any inquiries about this requirement, please contact the Student Health Center.
- Research Financial Support Opportunities: Please go to the Financial Sponsorship Opportunities page to learn about Teaching and Research Assistantships, Scholarships and On-campus Jobs opportunities that may be available to you.
- Register for Airport Pick-up and get more Arrival Information: Review the Arrival information page for information on airport pickups, temporary accommodations, and other information on preparing to enter the U.S.
