Summer 2012 Graduates

The University of Texas at Dallas does not hold a Commencement Ceremony at the end of the summer term.  Degrees are awarded at the end of the summer term to students who have filed for graduation by the deadline and met all degree requirements.  The official Summer 2012 graduation date is August 18, 2012. Diplomas will be mailed to students with no holds on their accounts about 6-8 weeks after this date.  Please watch your UT Dallas email account closely for correspondence regarding your diploma order.

PARTICIPATION IN THE SPRING 2012 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY Summer 2012 Bachelor's and Master’s Degree candidates may participate in the Spring 2012 Commencement Ceremony under the following guidelines:

  • You must submit a Summer 2012 Graduation Application to the Office of the Registrar in the Student Services Building by 6:00PM on January 25, 2012.
  • You must submit an approved Commencement Ceremony Participation Intent Form to the Office of the Registrar in the Student Services Building by 6:00PM on January 25, 2012. Your academic department’s approval is required.  Please see your academic advisor for the Commencement Ceremony Participation form.
  • Bachelor's degree candidates must have no more than nine (9) semester credit hours outstanding toward all degree requirements by the end of the Spring 2012 semester.
  • Master's degree candidates must have no more than six (6) semester credit hours outstanding toward all degree requirements by the end of the Spring 2012 semester.
  • You must submit an online Commencement Ceremony RSVP (login required) to the Spring 2012 ceremony. The deadline to submit an RSVP is March 28, 2012. If you recently submitted a graduation application, please allow 3-5 business days processing time before submitting an RSVP. See the Graduation Checklist for the RSVP link.
  • If you did not meet graduation requirements for Summer 2012 graduation but you participated in the Spring 2012 Commencement Ceremony, you will not be allowed to participate in a future Commencement Ceremony.

PARTICIPATION IN THE FALL 2012 COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY Summer 2012 graduates who have not previously participated in a Commencement Ceremony for their degree are eligible to participate in the Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony. 

  • You must submit a Summer 2012 Graduation Application to the Office of the Registrar in the Student Services Building by 6:00PM on June 11, 2012.
  • You must submit a Commencement Ceremony Participation Intent form to the Office of the Registrar in the Student Services Building by 6:00PM on June 11, 2012. Your academic department’s approval is required. Please see your academic advisor for the Commencement Ceremony Participation form.
  • In order for a Summer applicant to participate in the Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony, all degree requirements must have been completed by the end of the Summer 2012 semester. Please note: if you do not complete all degree requirements by the end of the Summer 2012 term, you must reapply for graduation. Your eligibility to participate in a commencement ceremony will then be governed by the guidelines of the semester for which you reapply.
  • Students who wish to participate in the Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony are required to submit an on-line Commencement Ceremony RSVP to the Fall 2012 Ceremony by the date published in the Academic Calendar.

Please remember that a Summer 2012 graduation applicant may only participate in either the Spring 2012 or Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony.
