Attorney Service

Overview

The Students' Attorney is available to provide quality legal advice and consultation to all currently enrolled students.

The Students' Attorney also prepares and presents programs and publications concerning students' legal rights and responsibilities.

The Students' Attorney is free of charge, funded by student service fees and sponsored by Student Government.

Eligibility

A valid UTD Student I.D. card is required for assistance and must be brought to the appointment for verification of current enrollment.

The attorney will not make initial consultations by telephone since there is no way to confirm that the caller is a student.

Students who have withdrawn from the University, faculty, staff, visitors, and alumni are not eligible for legal services.

Office Hours

Office hours are 2-5pm on scheduled Thursdays by appointment. Walk-ins may be seen as time permits.

Appointments may be made one week in advance and if the appointment must be cancelled, you must do so before the day of the appointment. Failure to cancel the appointment more than twice will result in the student's loss of the privilege of making another appointment during the current semester.

The attorney's office is in the Student Government office on the second level of the Student Union. Call (972) 883-2284 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

The Students' Attorney is not available during University holidays. Please check the Comet Calendar for available dates.
