SOM Printing

If it relates to UT-Dallas but doesn't fit somewhere else...

Do you think cover pages should be counted in the pages printed (and paid for)?

Yes, I want to pay for them.

No, I could use the pages for something more useful.

SOM Printing

As some of you may know, the School of Management (SOM) computer lab counts the cover pages as part of the number of pages printed (taking away from the pre-set printing quota that could be used to print class notes etc.). I do not think that is fair, since we (the users) did not ask for cover pages; and if they are absolutely necessary, then why not omit the page from the sheet count like the Sonora and Jonsson labs do?

Another issue is double-sided printing: in the SOM labs, printing one double-sided page costs the same as printing two individual pages (unless, of course, each page comes with its own cover), so why charge twice for double-sided printing if it only uses one sheet of paper? If a double-sided page was counted as one sheet, that would actually encourage more users to utilize this feature, thereby reducing the number of sheets printed in a day (or a week), saving both the environment and the cost of replacing paper for the school.

I just wanted to bring up this issue to SG. Please reply and/or vote in the poll to make your voice heard :)

I will forward this suggestion to the students in the SOM Dean’s Council and see what they say. I’ll keep in touch!
