IN SUPPORT OF LOWER FOOD PRICES ON CAMPUS
SUBMITTED BY THE STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, students recently visited the Student Senate to voice concerns over high food costs on campus; and
WHEREAS, over seven-hundred students have joined a Facebook group entitled “UTD Students for Cheaper Campus Food” to express their desire for less expensive dining options; and
WHEREAS, the Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee is charged with advising the Assistant Vice President for Procurement Management on policies, procedures, and rules regarding the overall operation of Food Services; therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate shares student concerns regarding the affordability of food services offered by University-contracted vendors; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate encourages members of the Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee to place heavy consideration on end costs to students when negotiating future food service contracts; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate Secretary send a copy of this resolution to Assistant Vice President of Procurement and Auxiliary Services Advisory Committee Chair Peter Bond for consideration in future discussions on the matter of food service.
