Student Government

Senate

The Student Senate is a diverse body of senators from each academic classification and school. With the exception of officers, each senator sits on a standing committee. Each senator is either elected or appointed to a one year term on the Student Senate. The President and Vice President are elected by the student body. The Secretary, Treasurer, and committee chairs are nominated and selected by the Student Senate.

Officers

President - Diana Kao

The president facilitates the senate and executive committee meetings and executes legislation passed by the senate. She serves as a representative of the student body to the administration.

 


Vice President - Remsen Jennings

The vice president assists the president with her duties. He serves as president in her absence and coordinates internal business of the student senate.


Secretary - Haroon Hashmi

The secretary keeps a record of all proceedings of the student senate and executive committee in conjunction with the SG advisor (see Minutes).

 

 

 

 


Treasurer - Sara Mahmood

The treasurer provides a monthly financial report to the student senate and publishes a biannual report that describes previous allocations and budgetary status.

 

 

 

 

 


Senators

Emily Lichtenheld - Academic Affairs Committee Chair
The Academic Affairs committee serves as a liaison between students and university administrators and faculty regarding academic policies and issues.

 

 

 

Nick Hinojosa - Communications Chair
The Communications Committee is responsible for Student Government public relations which include updating campus-wide bulletin boards and advertising for SG projects.

 

 


 

Abhimanyu Singh - Graduate & International Student Affairs Committee Chair
The Graduate and International Student Affairs Committee enhances the experience of graduate and international students through initiatives that accommodate their needs.

 

 

 

 

Prashant Raghavendran - Legislative Affairs Committee Chair
The Legislative Affairs Committee serves as an advocate for students and liaison to lawmakers at the local, state, and federal levels.

 

 


 

Bryan Thompson - Residential Student Affairs Committee Chair
The Residential Student Affairs Committee works proactively to improve on-campus living for students in the Residence Hall, University Village, and Waterview Park.

 

 



 

Jai Sondhi - Student Affairs Committee Chair
The Student Affairs Committee handles issues relevant to student life beyond the realm of academics and residential life.



 

 

Yash Gogte - Technology Committee Chair
The Technology Committee provides oversight for the SG website sg.utdallas.edu, Student Forums, and campus-wide technological updates that affect students.
