Penalties
Under State and Federal Law The University of Texas System Standards of Conduct (Handbook of Operating Procedures, Title V, Chapter 49) provide for disciplinary action against any student who engages in conduct that is prohibited by state, federal, or local law. This includes those laws prohibiting the use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs and alcohol. |

| Manufacture or delivery of controlled substances (drugs) | Confinement in the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) for a term of not more than 10 years or less than 2 years, or confinement in a community correctional facility for not more than one year, and a fine not to exceed $10,000 | Confinement in the TDC for life or for a term of not more than 99 years or less than 20 years, and a fine not to exceed $500,000 |
