S.T.A.R.T.

(Students Tackling Abusive Relationships Together)

The Student Counseling Center at The University of Texas at Dallas has teamed with The Family Place of Dallas -- a non-profit organization for battered women -- to coordinate the UTD S.T.A.R.T. Project (Students Tackling Abusive Relationships Together).

The project was initially designed for high school students.  The project was rolled out to several north Texas college campuses in spring 2007, and 24 UTD students went through a 10-week training program with Family Place College Program Coordinator Ellicia Money and staff. The course was designed to train college students in identifying, assisting and outreach to others in abusive relationships.

S.T.A.R.T. was developed to address the mission and initiatives of our UniTeD Against Sexual Assault project, as well as promoting student leadership training opportunities.
