About Us

The Student Affairs Professional Development is comprised of five component areas: Onboarding, Professional Development, Recognition and Awards, Service, and Social.

Each component is designed to provide different opportunities for growth, development and success within the division.


Description Resources

The Onboarding committee assists new staff by providing the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective employees of Student Affairs.

  • Conducts new employee orientations throughout the year.
  • Coordinates mentor program in professional development.

The Professional Development committee provides opportunities for Student Affairs staff to grow and develop in their careers.

  • Offers webinars, workshops and lectures throughout the year.
  • Coordinates selections for book club.

The Recognition and Awards committee acknowledges staff dedication to Student Affairs while highlighting professional, academic and life achievements.

  • Organizes department spotlights.
  • Recognizes one department monthly and one professional quarterly.
  • Recognizes one professional and one department yearly.

Nomination Forms:

The Service committee provides opportunities for Student Affairs staff to engage in service to both local and campus communities.

  • Departments compete against each other in accumulating service hours.
  • Plans service-related events such as spring clean-up.

Service Forms:

The Social committee provides opportunities for Student Affairs staff to make connections across departments in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Coordinates social events and programs such as the Student Affairs picnic.
