The mission of the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee is to improve and sustain the professional growth of the staff through learning opportunities that support the University’s strategic goals, which also enhances job performance and helps create a sense of campus community.

Shooting Star Award Nomination

The Shooting Star Award recognizes outstanding performance and special achievements of Student Affairs employees.

Nominations are not judged according to the number of nominations received; rather, it is the quality of the information included in the nomination that is considered. Committee members look for specific examples of special achievement or consistent outstanding performance that, according to each member's professional judgment, clearly demonstrates what is expected of a good employee.

Nominations should be based on at least one of the following criteria:

1. Specific examples of consistent outstanding job performance, or a special one-time achievement.
2. Demonstrated customer service skills.
3. Overall positive working relationships with supervisor and peers.
4. Dedication to work ethic above and beyond that required.
