Adopt-a-Highway (Off-Campus)

Don’t mess with Texas! That is the state’s anti-highway littering campaign. Join the OSV as we help clean up a stretch of President George Bush Turnpike and beautify our great state!  OSV has adopted a 2 mile stretch of George Bush Turnpike between Coit and Alma.

Coca Cola Recycling Education Vehicle

Stop by the Coca-Cola Recycling Education Vehicle (REV) to learn more about ways to recycle and save the planet. The REV travels nationwide to spread important recycling messages. Be a part of the 1.5 million people that have already experienced what this amazing vehicle has to offer!

There will be interactive displays, educational videos, and engaging games!

The Coca Cola REV is located between the Activity Center and the Student Services Building from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.


Earth Day: Earth Fair

How does UT Dallas celebrate Earth Day? We celebrate with the biggest event of Earth Week, the The Earth Fair! The Earth Fair features booths and interactive activities from student organizations, campus departments, and community agencies. There will be music, free earthy items, and good, clean, green fun!

The Earth Fair is located in Chess Plaza from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.


Free Gardening Workshop

Come to the Free Gardening Workshop at the UT Dallas Community Garden during UTD’s 3rd annual Earth Week! Celebrate mother Earth as a master gardener teaches students how to care for the land, plant vegetables, and sow seeds.

The Gardening Workshop will be located at the Community Garden from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

E-Waste Round Up

Got a printer that doesn’t print? A cell phone that doesn’t text? A computer monitor from the 1990′s? Bring those and all of your other e-waste to the Earth Week E-Waste Round Up! All electronic devices will be accepted and recycled properly thanks to our partners, Forerunner Recycling. Items can be dropped off from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the Clark Center parking lot, Lot I.

**No UT Dallas electronic property will be permitted. Only bring personal electronic items that you wish to be recycled.

This event is brought to UT Dallas in partnership with Materials Research Society-UT Dallas Chapter and Forerunner Recycling.


Pedal for the Planet: Bike Across Campus

Explore campus from a new vantage point as you take a ride with fellow UTD cyclists! The on-campus bike ride will depart from the Activity Center at 2:30 PM sharp. Arrive early to pick up awesome UTD bike accessories. Please wear UTD shirts or colors as we demonstrate to the UTD community the power of being green!

**Registration is required. This event is intended for those who have a bicycle (unicycles/tricycles are also okay!). Please bring your bike with you.

Urban Tree Farm Clean-up (Off-Campus)

Celebrate the end of Earth Week by taking a journey to an urban tree farm! Volunteers will provide assistance in mulching, site clean-up and plant nursery education at Texas Trees Foundation in Richardson. Learn about the many steps it takes to plant a tree.

Volunteers will meet in the Visitor Center Atrium at 8:00 AM and board a bus to the service site where they will volunteer from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Lunch will be provided upon arrival on UT Dallas campus.

**Please note all students must travel by bus and that this event will require manual labor.
