Grades 8 to 12
All students seeking certification
must be advised in the Teacher Development Center.
Undergraduate students must first
meet with an academic advisor before being advised
in the Teacher Development Center. Post baccalaureate
students must have previous coursework evaluated
by a certification advisor to be sure they fulfill
the content curriculum requirement of 24 hours in
the specific content field. Students who wish to
teach grades 8-12 may choose from the following teaching
fields:
- 8-12 Computer Science
- 8-12 Mathematics
- 8-12 English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR)
- 8-12 History
- 8-12 Social Studies
- 8-12 Science
- 8-12 Physical Science
- 8-12 Life Science
- 8-12 Chemistry
Basic professional development coureses
for Grades 8-12 are listed below. The certification
advisor will determine each student's specific requirements.

3314 - AMERICAN PUBLIC SCHOOL (mandatory
20 hours early field experience included
in course)

3339 - EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
- ED 4353 - SECONDARY READING IN THE CONTENT AREA
