UTD is home to The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program. At UTD we tend to think big; the McDermott scholars program is but one example. When UTD wanted to create a cadre of the very best students in the country, the University set about creating a program to attract the very best to UTD. This program was created with a $32 million endowment from Margaret McDermott to honor the memory of her husband, Eugene. The program is designed to create an environment where each year, a small group of exceptional young scholars are given the opportunity to become future leaders by receiving the most well-rounded educational experience available. The Center for the Study of Texas politics plays a role in the McDermott Scholars program by providing opportunities for these scholars to learn about leadership and its ramifications for our civic culture. We encourage you to use the following link to the McDermott Scholars website in order to learn more about this exceptional program.
