The Personal Training Program at UT Dallas is designed to help you with your personal fitness goals, whether you want to lose a few pounds or need help designing a workout right for you.
During your session, you will meet one-on-one with a certified personal trainer, so you can discuss your goals, obstacles, current activities and nutrition. Your body composition will be taken and recorded, so you can have an assessment of where you are and where you need to be. We will work together to produce a personalized weight training program and learn to properly use the equipment. Our goal is to practice the principles necessary to continue working out effectively, independently, and with long lasting benefits. Basic nutritional guidance and daily menus with delicious nutritional low-fat recipes will also be provided.

This workout contains 4 supersets. After every superset, rest for 3 minutes.
|Warm Up - 5-10 minutes to get your body heat elevated, muscles, warm, and heart pumping.|
|Sit-stand: 7-10 reps; 3-5 sets; weight: choose your own weight, aim for 7-12 reps.
Shoulder press: 6-10 reps each hand; 3-4 sets; weight: choose your own weight, aim for 7-12 reps.
|Arm-hang: 4-6 reps; 3-4 sets; “weight”: hold “up”/ lower self at ~4-8 “fast” second cadence.
Bad driver: 4-7 each side; 3-5 sets; weight: choose your own weight, aim for 6-9 reps each side
|Romanian Deadlifts (RDL): 5-7 each leg; 3-4 sets; weight: choose your own weight, aim for 7-9 reps each leg.
Chest-press: 7-12 reps; 3-4 sets; weight: choose your own weight, aim for 8-13 reps.
|Body row: 8-12 reps; 3-5 sets; “weight”: walk feet far enough forward that 1st set could be 10-14 reps.
Reverse crunch: 5-10 reps; 3-5 sets; “weight”: feet as far out as possible at the “down” position

Individual training for specialized attention to your fitness goals. Sessions are one hour. Individual packages will include an initial assessment.
Team up with a friend with similar fitness goals. Buddy Packages are limited to the 4, 8, and 12 session options and includes an initial assessment.
A full physical evaluation assessing your height/weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, cardiovascular fitness, posture and flexibility levels. You and your trainer will discuss the results of the assessment and recommendations will be made to help improve your overall fitness based on your results. Note: You must complete the medical registration packet prior to evaluation.
Using the results from your fitness assessment, a trainer will review your assessment results and work with you to create a realistic short or long term goals. A personalized fitness program will be designed for you based on your goals, current fitness level and exercises preferences.
A personal trainer can put the "personal" back into your workout. Not only will your trainer devise exercises that are best suited to your fitness goals, you can usually plan your sessions for a time that is convenient for you. Since you will be exercising in private, you need not worry about competing with other students, or holding them back because your fitness level is different. This is crucial to making progress. Additionally, our trainers make a point of keeping current in the latest fitness trends and research, so you can be assured that your fitness routine will never be outdated.

A trainer will measure your body fat percentage as well as your cardiovascular levels. This is an effective baseline measurement for you to track your training progress.

How can I get started with a personal trainer?

I've never been to the Activity Center's gym. Where are the personal trainers located?
We are located in the fitness center.
Can I train even if I don't currently attend UT Dallas? Do I have to get a membership?
The non-member price includes the daily use fee.
You must have a Comet Card or driver's license when entering the building.
Do personal training sessions expire? Can I get a refund if I choose not to train anymore?
Personal training sessions do not expire. Unfortunately, you cannot get a refund once you purchase sessions unless it is for medical reasons (you would have to bring a doctor's note specifically saying you cannot workout anymore). However, if you decide not to train anymore, you can transfer your unused sessions to a family member or friend.
How long are personal training sessions?
All sessions are one hour. However, you may talk to your trainer about breaking your sessions in half to 30 minutes if you wish. It is ultimately up to your trainer. All clients are urged to come in 10-15 minutes early to warm up on cardio equipment before the client's scheduled meeting time.
Are trainers certified?
All of our personal trainers have a personal training certification that they must maintain for the duration of their employment. All of our trainers are also certified in Red Cross CPR/AED.
I can't make it to the lesson and it's today! What should I do because I didn't contact my trainer 24 hours in advance?
We understand that life is full of the unexpected. First, don't panic. Second, contact your trainer by either email or phone. If you have the trainer's personal cell phone number, call and leave a message. If you do not have the trainer's personal cell phone number, contact the Activity Center front control desk at 972-883-2090 and leave a message with your name and trainer's name.
