The UT Dallas Police welcomes submissions for events from University departments and registered campus organizations. The submission of this form will enable us to assist you in making your event a success! Use this form to make requests for parking needs, unlocks, lockups, and Officers to work your event.

Special Event Overtime General Order

Procedure

Please check and acknowledge each statement below.

	The sponsoring organization or office should complete an Event Registration Form on the UT Dallas Police website, http://www.utdallas.edu/police/eventform.html (this page)
	If the sponsor believes that security or police services are needed for the event, such should be noted on the Event Request Form.
	Police personnel utilized for special events will be overtime assignments unless determined otherwise by the Chief of Police. The sponsoring organization or office will be charged for this service unless determined otherwise by the Chief of Police.
	The average rate of pay for police officers is the running average of overtime which is approximately $35 per hour. The average overtime rate for PSO guards is $19 an hour. If a supervisor is required due to the natuer of the event, the rate is higher.
	To ensure officer or guard scheduling, requests should be made at least ten (10) business days in advance. Requests received less than 10 business days in advance of the event may not be filled due to insufficient officer availability. If the lack of officers creates a critical security issue, it may impact the scheduling of the event.
	All Event Registration Forms are reviewed for security needs. If an event is registered where no security or police services are requested but the police department believes that based on the nature or size of the event that security or police services are essential to the safety of those attending, the Chief of Police may make the determination that security and/or police personnel are required. The sponsering office or organization would be responsible for payment of services.

Please Note: The average rate of overtime pay for police officers is $35 per hour. The average rate of overtime pay for guards is $19 per hour. If a supervisor is required due to the nature of the event, the rate is higher. These estimates should be used when deciding to hire an officer of guard for your event. There is no way to obtain an exact charge for services before an event. An invoice with the correct and final charge for services will be sent to the sponsoring oragnization or office after the event.

Notice for groups/organizations hiring Officers/Guards for security of event: Officers and Guards will be required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event start time and stay for the duration of the event. Officer/Guard departure may be extended beyond event end time if the nature or size of the event poses a security risk to event attendees.
Special Parking Requests:
Parking lot requests and parking passes are handled by the Parking Department which is separate from the Police Department. For questions regarding usage of lots and guest passes, please contact 972-883-2438. Notice for groups/organizations requesting the reservation of parking spaces or lots: The Police Department typically reserves parking spaces the night before an event since lots fill up quickly during the day. If you are requesting the reservation of parking spaces or lots, we recommend hiring a Guard to monitor the reserved area. Unless a Guard is hired, we cannot guarantee that the parking spaces will be available by the time your event begins.
