
Representatives from the UTDPD attended the Annual Conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in New Orleans. IACP offers high level and relevant training to law enforcement professionals.

UTDPD awarded department wide luncheon for the highest participation in the 2007 Corporate Challenge. Officers participated in the 15K Bike Race, 5K Run, Billiards competition and others.
Welcome Sergeant Rick Bauer. Sgt. Bauer comes to the UTDPD from UTSAPD. He is a certified Police Instructor, OC Spray Instructor, and Field Training Officer. He formerly served as a Detective with UTSAPD.
Congratulations to Sergio Rodriguez who was promoted to Corporal on August 1st 2007. He will assist in helping supervise second shift patrol.
Congratulations to Kendra Penny who was promoted to Sergeant. Additionally, Chris Dickson will be assigned as Detective-Sergeant and Supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Representatives of the UT Dallas Police Department attended the Annual Conference of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators held in Las Vegas, NV, June 25-29, 2007.
On 6-18-2007 Sgt. Chris Dickson was recognized as the UTD Business Affairs Outstanding Employee for the Third Quarter 2007. Additionally, Ofc. Sergio Rodriquez received the Business Affairs Star Employee 3Q Award.
Two UT Dallas Police graduated from the UT System Academy in Austin. We are pleased to welcome back Officers Karla Beckner and Mark Routson and are excited to be working with them in the future. Both individuals have previous experience with UT Dallas. Officer Beckner was an Investigative Assistant for the Criminals Investigations Division and Officer Routson was a Telecommuniactions Operator for the Communications Division.
A UT Dallas Police representative attended the Random Actor Violence workshop held at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The workshop addressed general issues of campus violence.
The UTDPD will attend the National Campus Security Summit hosted at The University of Central Oklahoma on May 30, 2007. This one day summit, has top experts from security, privacy, communications, and legal fields tackling the biggest questions every Higher Education campus is facing.

UTDPD is observing Peace Officers' Memorial Day on May 15th as part of National Police Week. This day is to honor the men and women of law enforcement who dedicate their life serving and protecting the public.

The Annual TLEEAA Explorers Competition was hosted this past weekend on the UTD campus. UTDPD sent two explorer teams. Team 1 consisting of Post Captain Colton Rohloff, Post Sergeant Kevin Grubbs and Explorer Jenny Chadick won first place in Felony Traffic Stops and Robbery in Progress. Team 2 consisting of Post Lieutenant Jason Spradlin, Explorer George Graham, and Explorer Matt Seyer won first place First Aid, Accident Investigation, Burglary in Progress, 2nd place in Arrest, Search, and Seizure, and third overall team. The post as a whole one Top Overall Post and the UTDPD won the award of 2006 Agency of the Year. Congratulations to all involved.
Officer Mike Rains was recently promoted to the rank of Corporal and will be assigned the Third Shift of the Patrol Division. Congratulations to Corporal Rains on his promotion.
Lead TCO Doug Johnson received the Business Affairs Star Award for the first quarter of 2007. The award was presented to him at the quarterly Dr. Larry Terry BUsiness Affairs Award Meeting. We are very proud of his hard work and dediaction towards the police department.
Telisha Murphy and Gloria Schattle have joined the UTD Police Department to work as telecommunication officers in the 911 dispatch center. We welcome them all to the department and are excited to work with them.
UTD Police Explorers Jason Spradlin, Kevin Grubbs, Jenny Chaddick and George Graham competed in the Lake Jackson Regional Explorer Competition among 22 teams. They won First Place in Overall Competition Post and First Place in Overall Competition Team. They won First Place in Arrest/Search & Seizure and Domestic Disturbance and Third Place in Misdemeanor Traffic Stops. Advisors: Ofc. Lee and Cadets Beckner & Routson attended.
Interim Corporal Chris Dickson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and will supervise the Third Shift of the Patrol Division. Sergeant Dickson will report to the Office of Field Operations and lead the Patrol Officers and Guards of Third Shift. Congratulations to Sergeant Dickson on his promotion.
