New Student Veteran Sponsor Program
Aims to Help with Transition
Military students face unique challenges when transitioning to college life. They may feel like outsiders on campus and they may be confused about the processes of a new academic environment. The sense of community and camaraderie the student once held while serving active duty may be gone.
The goal of the Veteran Services Center (VSC) is to provide the resources and support student veterans need to be successful at UT Dallas. Our Student Veteran Sponsor Program is designed to help veterans integrate into the University community.
Each semester, veteran students are matched with new student vets based on major, branch of service, gender and age. Sponsors set up an initial meet–and–greet at the beginning of each semester. Additional meetings cover topics including the VSC check-in process, UT Dallas events and activities, and campus resources.
Sponsors aim to provide students with a sense of community and belonging from the start. The VSC is always looking for new sponsor volunteers. If you are interested and would like more information, please stop by the center or call (972) 883–4913.
