Support Awards

The following awards are offered specifically for UT Dallas student veterans. New financial aid opportunities will be posted as they become available.

2017-2018 Raytheon Veteran STEM Award - $2,000 award

  • Current or former military service members
  • Enrolled full-time at UT Dallas in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics majors
  • Have a 3.0 UT Dallas GPA
  • Deadline to apply: October 30, 2017

Past Awards

2017-2018 State Farm Veteran Award — $2,500 four students who were:

  • Current or former military service members.
  • Enrolled full time and seeking an undergraduate degree in any major.

2016-2017 State Farm Veteran Award — $2,500 four students who were:

  • Current or former military service members.
  • Enrolled full time and seeking an undergraduate degree in any major.

2014-2015 Raytheon Veteran Award — $500 to four students who were:

  • Current or former military service members.
  • Enrolled full-time at UT Dallas in any major.

2014-2015 USAA Veteran Student Support Award — $1,000 to five students who were:

  • Current or former military service members.
  • Enrolled full-time at UT Dallas.
  • Majoring in management information systems, computer science or software engineering

UT Dallas Scholarships/Awards

The following scholarships are offered specifically for UT Dallas student veterans.

Donald E. Hicks Memorial Award for U.S. Armed Forces Veterans

Pfc. Donald E. Hicks

Pfc. Donald E. Hicks, a native of Superior, Wisconsin, fought in the South Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery at the age of 19. He and the 12 million other Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II are known as the Greatest Generation. Emerging from childhoods devastated by the Great Depression only to face the turmoil of world war, they put their young lives on hold to serve their country.

Jane and Donald Hicks

After the war, Hicks and his high school sweetheart, Jane, married and resumed their lives, eventually settling in South Bend, Indiana. Together, they continued to set aside personal goals to ensure their three children might enjoy opportunities that had been denied to them by time and circumstance.

We are mindful today that men and women veterans from other generations live among us in the UT Dallas community, and their stories of volunteer service and personal sacrifice are similar. This scholarship, a gesture of appreciation to them for their service, is open to any honorably discharged armed forces veteran who served on active duty and is enrolled at UT Dallas as a full-time degree-seeking student.
