About the Redesign
The redesigned UTD gateway site is the result of a collaboration between the recently established University Web Services department and Glenda Yan. Shortly after its launch in May, 2004, the web site won a "Best of the Web" award from The Center for Digital Education. The redesign was primarily for improved functionality and visual appeal; it accomplished the following goals:
- Provided a new design that reflects the university's institutional quality and intent to be nationally recognized as a research institution.
- Provided a more usable gateway to the more than 213,000 pages of information on the UTD Web site. The top navigation bar provides one-click access to the Google search engine and the most commonly used directory pages.
- Included more high-quality photography of the people, buildings, classrooms and facilities on campus.
- Provided a foundation for improving the usability and navigation of the UTD Web site.
- Provided a structure for the delivery of more timely information and links on the home page.
The primary contributors to the redesign were:
- Glenda Yan, Designer
- Cassini Nazir, Web Specialist - HTML production and development of new campus maps
- Mike Watters, Web Specialist - HTML production and transition of interactive services
- Lauraine O'Neil, Editor - editing of new text content
- Cary Delmark, Manager - oversight, project management
