The following are instructions for embedding a URL link in a text document for sharing to a Spitfire registered user.

Embedding a URL link

There will be times that you will want to embed a clickable URL link in a text document, such as a Microsoft Word file, that will link to either an image in a Favorites collection or a single image in the Spitfire library.

Just follow these easy steps:

To share the correct URL for an image in one of your Favorites collections:

Text documents are a bit different when it comes to sharing a link to an image in the Spitfire library. You cannot physically embed a link to the shared favorites that will work because the links are only good for a short amount of time. The link to where the image is located in your Favorites can be embedded, but it needs to be modified first. Here's how:

Step 1:

URL from Favorites 1

Step 2:

URL from Favorites 2

Step 3:

URL from Favorites 3

Step 4:

URL from Favorites 4

To share the correct URL for an image in the library:

If the link you want to embed is just for an image in one of the albums in the library and NOT in a Favorites collection, the procedure is even easier.

Step 1:

URl from Image 1

Paste this into your text document and you are good to go. No other steps are needed.

If you have questions about anything outlined on this document, please contact University Web Services at extension 4995 or 4994 and ask for Dennis Guten for help with any Spitfire Image Library related issues.
