Web Publishing Policy
Applicability
Which sites must follow the policy?
- Schools
- Departments
- Administrative offices
- SGA, SUAAB, The Mercury and registered student organizations who use UTD webservers for their websites ( more information )
- Research Labs
- Course-related webpages
- Any other page or site providing "official" information
- This includes sites intended only for internal audiences
Which sites do not have to follow the policy?
- Student personal sites (www.utdallas.edu/~NetID)
- Strictly personal portions of faculty and staff sites
SGA, SUAAB and The Mercury must host their sites on UTD servers. Registered student organizations who use UTD webservers for their websites must follow the web publishing policy. Hosting registered student organization sites on other servers (geocities, yahoo webspace) is allowed (though not encouraged) with restrictions:
- Re-direction from the utdallas.edu domain to another domain will be facilitated by a page re-direct, NOT a server re-direct.
- Before the redirect will proceed, a disclaimer page will be displayed indicating that the user is entering a non-official site and the user will be required to acknowledge this by clicking on a button to initiate the re-direct.
Currently, student orgs will be hosted as www.utdallas.edu/orgs/orgname. Orgname may be initials or part of the organization's name.
Registered student organizations may obtain webspace by contacting Patty Atchley at patchley@utdallas.edu or by visiting the Student Development Office in SU2.604
