The GWC has been in full operation since September of 1997, actively serving the campus community and affirming the University’s commitment to advancing the status and success of women on campus.  Our unique suite has been referred to many times as a safe and nurturing space where people can build friendships and share dreams and goals.  We would never be able to accomplish the exciting things we do, if not for our talented, passionate students!

The Center works in partnership with campus organizations, regional businesses and community service organizations to provide resources and services that enhance the experience of all campus individuals, by contributing to an academic atmosphere in which positive role models are highly visible and gender bias and inequities can be addressed. The GWC sponsors programs such as Safe Zone Ally Training and support for the GLBT community, The Galerstein Women’s Center Annual Scholarship, the Gender Studies Lecture Series, project leadership for a successful Faculty Mentoring Program for tenure-track faculty, and programs for the support and advancement of women in STEM fields of study.

The Galerstein Women’s Center seeks continuous improvement through the ongoing assessment of its services through visitors to the Center, satisfaction surveys, needs assessment and an Advisory Board (Friends of the Center) to assist in steering initiatives, fundraising development and annual scholarship applicant review. The GWC offers opportunities and events that promote a broader understanding of the diverse experiences and ideas of women, and provides resources and services that help women develop both professionally and personally.
