SAFE ZONE Ally Training for Support of LGBTQ Community

The purpose of ally training is to establish a university-wide network of visible allies who are willing to offer a supportive and inclusive environment to all people.  We accomplish this by educating UTD students, faculty, and staff on inclusive language, issues affecting LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) campus community, campus-wide resources, and events related to SAFE ZONE.  Upon completion of the training, allies receive a certificate and SAFE ZONE logo sticker.  Displaying the logo supports efforts to advance progress towards a campus that discourages discrimination and openly celebrates diversity.

Visit the UTD SAFE ZONE page for more information.

Galerstein Women’s Center Annual Scholarship

The Women's Center Annual Scholarship ($1,000) is open to degree-seeking students. The Galerstein Women’s Center Scholarship was established in 2006, primarily funded through a commissioned grant project through the Department of Labor.  The funds were originally awarded to the GWC to create a curriculum for Generation X women to promote financial security and retirement planning strategies.  Remaining funds were allocated to our scholarship fund to support campus women at UT Dallas.  Donations to the GWC, as well as the scholarship fund, can be given through the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at  http://www.utdallas.edu/development/contact.html.

Criteria for scholarship:

  • Special consideration will be given to applicants who focus their essay on community service/volunteer work – particularly in areas of assistance for women
  • Being a female student in a STEM field of study (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Passion for equality, diversity and inclusiveness for our campus, community and world

Women Students 40 and Older at UT Dallas
