Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day is celebrated internationally during Engineering Week each spring. 50 female students in 8th grade enrolled at Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLS) in the Dallas Independent School District will visit UTD for a four-hour program of engineering fun and exploration and networking with UTD students, alumni and women in the industry. Participants will also learn about the importance of higher education and about enrolling at UTD. The goal of the program is to increase the pipeline of female students from DISD interested in pursuing science, technology, engineering, or math fields of study.

Texas Girls Collaborative Project (co-sponsored with UT Austin)

Industry, academia and community members discuss strategies to address girl and women in STEM strategies for recruitment and retention.
Ladies of Vision and Excellence Student Organization (L.O.V.E.)
Female students interested in promoting the values of unity and leadership. Sharing their wisdom and individual strengths across cultures and ethnicities, demonstrating their purposed to inspire and mentor others as roles models for success. Active in mentoring at Frankford Middle School in Plano for girls interested in science, technology, engineering and math programs. This proactive organization collaborates with Lambda Phi Epsilon and SLA for community service activities.
