Ericsson STEM Scholarship Award

Ebelechukwu Nduka

Major: Neuroscience

Ebele is a senior neuroscience, pre-med major at UT Dallas. She is involved in various organizations, such as Golden Key International Honor Society and Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. She has a heart of service as demonstrated in her involvement as an executive board member of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority (GSS), where she has been involved in numerous service projects to advance the status of girls and women. She serves as a tutor to elementary school girls of underserved, low income communities who have fallen six months to two years behind in reading. She is the recipient of the USAA National Mathematics Award Winner and recently, under her tenure as an officer, GSS received the Golden Comet Award for student organization of the year.

Prathyusha Moturi

Major: Software engineering & computer Science

Prathyusha is a junior software engineering and computer science major at UT Dallas. Her goal is to solve problems in the world through technological innovation. As a child, she opened malfunctioned gadgets to see what was inside them and to learn how they worked.  She was captivated by what was inside and imagined how those technologies could make a difference in someone’s life. She decided to dedicate her life to making a difference by using the technological skills she has garnered at UT Dallas. She spends her time educating, advocating, fundraising and assisting the United Nation’s International Children’s Emergency Fund tackle issues of poverty and hunger, gender equality, maternal health, environmental sustainability and child health. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, Association of Computation Machinery and Red Cross.

Ashley Pickett

Major: Psychology

Ashley’s struggles as a young LGBT individual have made her realize how important it is to have a support network, and after overcoming her own hardships, she has now turned her attention to helping others. Immediately after transferring from Richland College to UT Dallas to pursue a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Psychology, Ashley joined Pride at UTD, a social student organization for LGBTA students. She has participated in numerous events that promote a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTA students at UT Dallas to study and learn, including a dialogue with Fort Worth Councilman Joel Burns and an event in remembrance of the LGBT youth who have committed suicide due to bullying. She is the President of Pride at UTD, becoming the first female to serve as president of the group since it was founded over five years ago. One of her professors describes Ashley as a highly motivated, self-directed student with impressive academic performance.
