Around 7 AM this morning I spotted a cormorant circling high overhead, near the lake in Bob Woodruff Park. After a while it landed on the lake near the fountain. The photo quality is poor, but note the white feathers forming a V behind the gape. |
After fishing for a few minutes the cormorant took off. |
This appears to be a Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax olivaceus), a species I have not previously recorded at this park.Double-crested Cormorants winter here, but normally do not arrive before the end of September. |
I believe this damselfly may be a Rambur's Forktail (Ischnura ramburii), female orange form. |
This damselfly may also be a Rambur's Forktail (Ischnura ramburii), female olive form. |
