Tutorials

Tutorial One

Tutorials completed were miniChapters 1-3. These interactive HTML tutorials were found on this site. In these chapters, I learned how to make words larger, italicized, bold, underlined, and even look like they've been type-written. I also learned how to align or center things, make horizontal lines, and use other text formatting tags, as shown by this entire entry.

Tutorial Two

This week, I went back to the same site I used in Tutorial One and completed mini-chapters 4-6. In this set of tutorials, I learned how to make links out of pictures and get rid of the line around the picture showing it is so. I also learned how to change the colors of several different aspects of the post. Finally, the final mini-chapter taught about "clean code" and the general dos and don'ts of coding with it. The picture below is an example of a pic link without a border around it, and the text has changed color in the body to show that I can make it do so. MWAHAHA!!

Tutorial Three

This week, I went back to the site, doing mini-chapters 7-9. Here's what I have learned:

Mini-Chapter Seven
How to do unordered lists, ordered lists, and definition lists (my example this week).
Mini-Chapter Eight
How to implement extended fonts on web browsers, and a review on changing font color.
Mini-Chapter Nine
How to make in page jumps, as in to the top of the page.

Tutorial Four

This is a cool animation:) This page Copyright © Little Joe's Pages & davesite.com.

For this tutorial, I didn't think mini-chapter 10 was all that useful, so I did mini-chapters 11-13. In these mini-chapters, I learned how to deal with having text and organizational lines work around pictures. I also learned how to add a moving picture. These lessons are displayed above. I also got a refresher on the code for tables and was able to see the exact code for customizing a table. Finally, I learned how to add sound to my website. I did not bother doing that demonstration because my website won't have any sound, but it still may be useful to know how to do this in the future.

Tutorial Five

For this tutorial, I didn't think Mini-Chapters 14-14.3 would be relevant enough, so I did mini-chapters 15-17. In these chapters I learned how to make a web page automatically refresh every few seconds (not very useful) and how to make it easier for search engines to find your site via keywords and a site description (extremely useful and I am definately going to do this for my website). I also learned how to add a counter or guestbook to your website. Finally, I learned general form filling code that may not be that useful to me, but I thought was just sooo cool. So, it's my example for this tutorial. See below. Sorry, they don't actually read the information because I don't care.

Tutorial Six

For this and the next two tutorials, I found flash tutorials off of the internet. They all work together to form a big animation at the end. Well, not a big one, but one that's big for me as it is my first flash animation ever. For this first tutorial, the site led us through the tools and how to use them, snapping, grids for referencing, declaring symbols, and grouping symbols. It was a much more in depth look at the things you can really do in Flash.

Tutorial Seven

For this part of the tutorial, we went over layers and how to work with them in order to build an animation with symbols that we have previously made. We also works with animation length, key frames, adding sound, adding action script, motion tweening, and, of course, extensive use of the library Flash provides you with.

Tutorial Eight

For this final Flash tutorial, we worked a lot more on action script, declaring buttons and working with the buttons internally to make roll over states, clicked states, and release states. We also learned how to continually check our animation to make sure it is working correctly along each step of the path. Finally, after all three tutorials... I have my first animation ever!! To view it, simply turn your sound up and click here!! But, just remember, it isn't all that impressive.
