Dr. Lloyd Jeff Dumas is a Professor in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences (previously, Social Sciences) at UT-Dallas. He teaches courses on the theory, application and management of geographic information systems for the geographic information sciences and public affairs/public administration programs. His primary areas of research interest are in the application of GIS technology in the public sector, and the impact of technology on urban and regional development. He was a faculty member at UT-Austin before moving to UT-Dallas in 1976. From 1982 to 1991 he was the university's Director of Academic Computing and from 1991 through 1995 the Executive Director for Information Resources. Since 1995 he has been associated with the the graduate programs in geographic information sciences.
