Semantic Web

Semantic Web: Research Keywords: RDF, data publication, fine-grained data access control, data distribution and consumption in a third-party architecture

Within the context our research, Semantic Web is a means for connecting disparate data sources. Data sources are not necessarily the owners of the data, which raises several security questions. Can we trust the data? What if data contains private information that can be linked to external datasets to identify individuals. Can other sensitive data be inferred from the availability of them at a third-party? We need to address these questions in a manner that is not ad hoc; rather we need a framework that is integrated with other constitutents of data representation on the Semantic Web. Since RDF is the standardized data model for Semantic Web, our security solutions rely on RDF model and its associated semantics. We look at software and hardware based solution to address our need.
