General Research Interests
Propagation, diffraction, and scattering of high frequency (optical and infrared) electromagnetic radiation, and interaction with materials and structures, specializing in the interaction of radiation with periodic structures; inverse scatterometry; design of optical instrumentation; design and fabrication of frequency selective surfaces.

  Polarization - measurement and control
  Ellipsometry and optical properties of materials
  Semiconductor process monitoring - scatterometry and ellipsometry

Effective July 1, 2006 I have retired from UTD.   I'd like to thank all of my colleagues, both past and present, for the kindness they have shown me over the 19 years here at UTD.  I would also like to thank the many graduate students whom I have taught; they ended up teaching me a lot also!!  I would also like to give a humongous "THANK YOU" to all those grad students who chose to study with me.  I truly believe that I have profitted as much  as I hope they did!   To the many undergrads that have taken classes from me, I wish each of them "the very best in their future endeavors, whether it be in an industrial position or in an academic environment."

My wife and I hope to enjoy all of our children (4) and grandchildren (8) in the months and years to come!!  I think they will keep us both rather busy AND quite happy !!
