12/8/04    Grades for the final, listed by alias, are now available. Scaled scores follow the algorithm
                100^0.2*(percent score)^0.8.

12/3/04     Please remember to bring a #2 pencil with you to the final. We will be using Scantron forms,
                 which CHM1311 will provide. Do not bring your own form.

12/3/04     The "cheat sheet" for the final is available in preview so you can know what we will provide for
                 you. YOU MAY NOT BRING IT IN WITH YOU. WE WILL PROVIDE COPIES WITH THE
                 EXAM.

11/29/04   Grades for Exam IV listed by alias are available. The algorithm for converting raw score to the
                 scaled  score  is: scaled score = 100^0.3*(raw score)^0.7.


11/24/04  Final Exam Review Session with Dr. Caldwell will be Thursday, December 2, 2004, 2-4PM, in
                SOM 2.714.

11/24/04   The final will be given on Monday, Dec. 6,  8 - 11:45 AM. This is the time scheduled for CHM
                 1011, the "exam class," to have its final.   Room assignments for the final will be
                  the same as for Exam II.

11/05/04   Grades for Exam III listed by alias are available. The algorithm for converting raw score to the
                 scaled  score  is: scaled score = 100^0.3*(raw score)^0.7.

10/29/04  SI review session for Exam III with Chris Alameddin: Sunday, October 31, 1 - 3 PM, FN2.102
                (Kusch Auditorium)

10/29/04  Room assignments for Exam III will be the same as for Exam II.

10/27/04  Dr. Caldwell's Exam III review session is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 3:00 - 5:00 PM,
                room GR 2.530.

10/18/04   A list of tutors for CHM 1311 is available. Each tutor sets his/her own rate for tutoring.

10/8/04   Grades for Exam 2 listed by alias are available. The algorithm for converting raw score to the scaled
               score  is scaled score = 10 x (square root of raw score).

10/1/04  The handout on molecular geometries and the VSEPR practice  questions have been added.

9/29/04 Note that Exam II will not cover sections 9.4 and 9.6 in any detail and will not cover sections 10.7  
             and 10.8 at all.

9/3/04   Dr. Caldwell's review session for Exam I will be held 3-5 PM on Tuesday Sept. 7 in FN 2.102
             (Kusch Auditorium).

9/2/04    Some of you have asked about the exam I format. As the exam structure and the textbook are both
              new, there are no good model exams to show you. Dr. Dieckmann has posted LAST YEAR's exam
              I at http://www.utdallas.edu/~dieckgr/course.htm but be aware that it covers topics NOT in Chs. 1-3
              of the fourth edition. Those are the only chapters you are responsible for for Exam I.

9/1/04    Some of you have asked about the pdf files. To view them you need Adobe Reader (Acrobat
               reader). You can download this from http://www.adobe.com but you must be careful to get
               the version appropriate to your computer.

8/31/04 - EXAM I logistics:  Professor Dieckmann's and Caldwell's students will use the 3 large rooms in
                the conference center (CN 1.112, CN 1.102, and CN 1.120).  Be at the conference center by
                7:55 on Wednesday, Sept. 8.  Sit in one of the 3 above rooms (your choice).  There must be a
                vacant seat between you and the adjacent students. 

8/30/04 -  SI sessions are scheduled for: Mon. 4-5 (CB1.104); Thurs. 5-6 (CB1.108); Fri. 3-4 (CB1.104).

8/30/04 -  The CSA is selling goggles outside the chemistry stockroom (BE 2.412) between 9 AM
                 and 1 PM this week.  Dr. Sibert will also ask them to set up shop outside our class on Wednesday.

8/24/04 -  The bookstore called today and said that the  Chem 1311 books and lab manuals are in.

8/23/04 -  Office hours and group help sessions for Dr. Caldwell are now posted in the syllabus.
