Research

Thus far, my research has consisted primarily of applying quantitative statistical methods to understand countries’ foreign economic policies, including their regulation of both trade and investment. My initial work in graduate school concerned popular support for free trade, and the ability of countries to manipulate that support. In my dissertation and first round of research, I applied time series and instrumental variables methods to the study of capital account policy. My research since then has focused more on the regulation of direct investment (when firms from one state establish production in another state) through investment treaties.
