PERSONAL   Short bio Vita   Contact info			Dr. Celal Aksu received his BA degree in Operations Management and MA degree in Finance both from Bogaziçi University in 1975 and 1976 respectively. He received an MBA degree in Accounting/Management Information Systems and a Ph.D. degree in Accounting with Quantitative Methods and Management Information Systems as supporting fields, both from Syracuse University in 1982 and 1987 respectively. Previously, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Syracuse University, Temple University and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; and as an Associate Professor of Acconting at Koc University and INSEAD. Currently, he is a visiting Full Professor of Accounting and Information Management at The University of Texas at Dallas.     His areas of expertise include accounting earnings and firm valuation, time series analysis and forecasting of financial time series in the presence of outliers and structural changes, forecast accuracy measures, and combining forecasts. Dr. Aksu has research which appeared in various journals including Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Accounting, Auditing & Finance, European Journal of Finance, International Journal of Forecasting, Economic and Financial Modelling, Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, Economic and Financial Computing, some of which have been awarded "citation of excellence" for their research impact. He has made numerous invited presentations at workshops of several universities and at national and international conferences, and organized and chaired several research tracks and sessions at these conferences. Dr. Aksu has served as a referee for various academic journals and conducted forecasting seminars in international conferences and financial institutions.     Dr. Aksu has served as the Program Chair of the 1996 International Symposium on Forecasting; as a Director on the Board of the International Institute of Forecasters during 1996-2003, and serves in the Turkish Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee (TMUDESK). He has served in numerous department, college, and university-wide academic, advising, recruiting, and administrative committees. Dr. Aksu has also extensive experience in consulting. He worked for Biges International Transport Ltd. and Datotek, Inc. as a management and financial consultant, respectively, and for Garanti Bank as the Assistant Vice President of the International Division and participated in the management training program of Bankers Trust Company of New York. He is a member of the American Accounting Association, International Institute of Forecasters, and Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
